Board of Trustees

The College is governed by a Board that consists of ten members who are appointed in compliance with Section 6306 of the New York State Education Law. Five members are appointed by the Schenectady County Legislature, four are appointed by the Governor, and one member is elected by and from among the students of the College, who shall serve as a member of the Board for a one-year term.

Nine members shall be appointed for terms of seven years in the annual rotation, and initial appointments shall be made for terms of one to nine years respectively.

The duties and responsibilities of the Board are set forth in New York State Education law, Section 6306, subdivisions 2 through 8-a (Appendix 1) and 8NYCRR, Section 604.2 (Appendix II).

The SUNY Schenectady Board of Trustees meetings is held on the third Monday of the month unless changed for a good cause. Meeting dates and times are published in advance and are available online. Agendas and past meeting minutes are posted after they are approved by the Board.
