Pianist, accompanist, and educator Megan Glikes enjoys working with musicians and students of all ages through performing, rehearsing, and teaching.
Megan has been an adjunct faculty member at Lone Star College–North Harris, Houston Community College, and Roberts Wesleyan University. Her passion for classroom teaching began as a Graduate Assistant teaching Class Piano at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. As a one-on-one private piano lesson teacher, Megan aims to tailor lessons to the needs and goals of each of her students, who have ranged in age from 4 to 80! She is an active member in the local New York State Music Teachers Association.
Over the past twenty-five years, Megan has collaborated with soloists and ensembles from beginners to professionals in many genres. She has accompanied and coached at Opera in the Heights (Houston), Houston Community College, Roberts Wesleyan University, UNC-Greensboro, and Gordon College in Wenham, Mass.
Megan is currently the Director of Music at Lisha’s Kill Reformed Church in Colonie where she plays piano and organ and conducts the choir. An enthusiastic church musician, she previously held similar positions at Perinton Presbyterian Church in Rochester, N.Y., and Union Congregational Church in Magnolia, Mass.
A native of Troy, N.Y., Megan graduated summa cum laude from Gordon College in 2009 where she was awarded the Presser Undergraduate Scholarship and Music Leadership Scholarship. She earned a Master of Music degree in Piano Performance from UNC-Greensboro in 2012. Megan and her husband, Brian, live in Albany with their two young daughters.
