The Alternative Energy Technology A.A.S. is a career-ready degree, designed for direct workforce entry. The curriculum is very hands-on, particularly in electrical systems and power technologies. Students will get broad exposure in a variety of alternative energy sectors, including solar, wind, fuel cells, and power electronics.

Although it is a degree that prepares you for the workforce, it also provides pathways to 4-year transfer programs in Sustainability Studies, Clean & Sustainable Energy, Alternative Energies, etc.

Program Learning Outcomes

Students will:

  • Apply foundational scientific and mathematical principles to support engineering and technical problem-solving.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot electrical, electronic, power, and automated systems using circuit theory, schematics, renewable energy technologies, and computational tools.
  • Evaluate technical processes and communicate solutions using lean manufacturing principles, automation concepts, and professional technical documentation.
