Financial Aid

Applying for Financial Aid is extremely important and should be done as soon as you apply at SUNY Schenectady. You can apply for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at www.fafsa.ed.gov or to learn more about the FAFSA application process, visit our Financial Aid page. It’s important to have your Financial Aid awarded prior to the start of your semester.

Certificate of Residence

Students registering for credit courses at SUNY Schenectady are required to document their county of residence since counties partially fund student enrollment at New York State community colleges. In order to qualify for resident tuition, you must have resided in New York State for the past twelve months, and you are required to provide county residence documentation for the last six months. All New York State students must complete the Application for Certificate of Residence, Form B-80, and students from outside Schenectady County must submit Form B-81 obtained from their county treasurer. The Student Business Office, Elston 219, is responsible for collecting the Certificate of Residence from students. Please click here for more details and to download the Certificate of Residence form.

Immunization Documentation

New York State law requires the College to have your immunization documentation prior to the first day of classes. Students who have not submitted any proof of immunity against Measles, Mumps or Rubella are considered non-compliant and will not be allowed to attend classes after 30 days (for residents of the State of New York) or after 45 days (for out-of-state-residents). The College is obligated to exclude non-compliant students and will administratively withdraw these students from classes on the 30th day (for NY residents) and 45th day (for out-of-state-residents) from the first day of classes. For details on the Immunization process please visit the Immunization page.
