Thank you for considering SUNY Schenectady County Community College as your choice for a quality and affordable education! SUNY Schenectady welcomes Veterans and for many years we have been designated as a “military friendly school” by G.I. Jobs magazine.

Not only are we the most affordable college in the Capital Region, but we also have a wide variety of courses to choose from–all taught by our diverse and regionally recognized faculty. We make it convenient to attend as the College offers many evening, weekend, and online courses.

There are many resources on campus to help you once you become a student. We also have extensive student support services, including Learning Labs, and affordable child care options.

Using Veterans Tuition Benefits

The Johnny Isakson and David P. Roe, M.D. Veterans Health Care and Benefits Improvement Act of 2020 requires educational institutions to make certain disclosures to students using federal military and/or VA educational benefits. To view and print a copy of an estimated personalized cost of attendance you can visit the SUNY Net Price Cost Calculator  and select SUNY Schenectady from the dropdown. The SUNY Financial Aid Plan (FAP) will provide a more in-depth analysis and accurate picture of student cost once the student has filed their FAFSA, completed a SUNY application, and has been accepted by a campus.

Applying at the College is an easy process. You can fill out a paper application or you can apply online. Since we are an open-admission institution, we require no specific grade point average from your high school record. Most of our programs have no special admissions requirements other than being a high school graduate or its equivalent.

We’ll help guide you in contacting your former high school for the state required information. Many of our students come to us having earned credit at other colleges. Our Registrar’s Office will evaluate your college transcripts for possible transfer credit.
