Arriving in the U.S.

SUNY Schenectady County Community College (SUNY Schenectady) is here to welcome you to the U.S. and that begins with the College providing transportation to new international students arriving for the first time to SUNY Schenectady. We recognize that you have traveled a long distance and just simply want to relax a little and get settled. That is why we will ensure you can get settled right away, before your orientation begins. We provide each new international student with a small welcome basket which will include; shampoo, soap, toothpaste, water, fruit and some snacks for your first few days.

International Student Orientation

Orientation is mandatory for all new F-1, J-1 international students. You must have the following information with you:

  • Your I-20 or DS-2019 Form
  • Your passport
  • Your I-94 card (should be stapled to your passport)

During orientation you will learn about the College and the surrounding area. Placement tests to ensure appropriate course selections may occur during this time. You will meet with members of the faculty and staff who are here to assist you while you are studying at SUNY Schenectady.
