Add/Drop/Withdrawal Info for CHS Students

Late Adds

Students enrolled in the College in the High School (CHS) program who would like to add a course after the standard registration period has ended must submit the appropriate CHS Change Form by the published deadline (see links below). Late add requests are reviewed by the Office of College and High School Partnerships and are processed on a case-by-case basis (this includes confirming full-term enrollment with your instructor). No late adds will be accepted once final grades have been submitted. Approved late adds are subject to tuition charges at the CHS reduced credit rate. Payment is made directly to the SUNY Schenectady Student Business Office. Students residing outside Schenectady County are required to submit a valid Certificate of Residence to avoid being charged a non-resident fee. Please note, your county may have a deadline to request a Certificate of Residence. If this deadline has passed, students would be responsible for the non-resident fee.

Drops

A drop request removes a student from a College in the High School (CHS) course without a permanent academic record, provided the request is submitted by the drop deadline listed for the academic year. Drops must be submitted using the designated CHS Course Change Form (see below). For approved drops, there is no tuition liability. Students are encouraged to review all date and deadlines carefully, as drop requests received after the deadline will not be approved.

Withdrawals

Course withdrawal applies when a student exits a College in the High School (CHS) course after the official drop deadline has passed. We encourage students who are in jeopardy of earning a failing grade to first speak with their instructor and, if appropriate, request a course withdrawal. A student will earn a grade of ‘W’ indicating the withdrawal on the student’s official transcript. Unlike failing grades, a grade of ‘W’ does not impact a student’s grade point average (GPA). Tuition refunds are not granted for withdrawals. Please note, withdrawals may have future implications for financial aid. Withdrawal requests must be submitted using the CHS Change Form and are reviewed by the Office of College and High School Partnerships. Students are encouraged to review all date and deadlines carefully, as withdrawal requests received after the deadline will not be approved.

Completing the CHS Change Form

The College in the High School College in the High School (CHS) Change Form is used to request course changes, including late adds, drops, or withdrawals initiated after the standard registration period has ended. Students must complete the form in full, selecting the appropriate change type and providing accurate course and high school information. Submission of the form does not guarantee approval; all requests are reviewed by the Office of College and High School Partnerships and may require additional documentation or follow-up. Students are responsible for understanding applicable deadlines, tuition obligations, and Certificate of Residence requirements, as these may be impacted by the timing and type of change requested.
