ATD Success

Student Success through Teaching & Learning

As part of SUNY Schenectady’s continued commitment to student success through Achieving the Dream (ATD), the College has shifted its focus to Teaching and Learning. This transition reflects our recognition that lasting improvements in student outcomes must include what happens in the classroom—not just around it. Teaching and Learning are at the heart of the student experience, and we believe that student success starts with strong, inclusive, and engaging instruction.

When faculty use evidence-based teaching practices that are responsive to all students' needs, the impact resonates across the entire institution. By focusing on how we teach—not just what we teach—we’re investing in meaningful change that benefits every student. This shift allows us to create high-impact learning environments where all students feel seen, supported, challenged, and empowered.

SUNY Schenectady faculty are driving this transformation, providing tools and approaches that foster active learning, belonging, and academic confidence. Through this work, we are building a culture of continuous improvement grounded in equity, collaboration, and shared responsibility. Ultimately, this commitment ensures that all students—regardless of background—have access to high-quality learning experiences that prepare them for success in college, careers, and beyond.
