Dr. Steady Moono, who will retire in 2026 after more than a decade of transformative
leadership as President of the College.
Dr. Moono has guided SUNY Schenectady through a period of growth, innovation, and renewed community engagement. Under his leadership, the College strengthened academic programs, expanded student support services, modernized facilities, and deepened partnerships throughout the Capital Region. His unwavering commitment to access, equity, and student success has helped thousands of learners realize their educational dreams.
A respected leader and advocate within Schenectady and across New York State higher
education, Dr. Moono is known for his global perspective and has consistently championed
the idea that education is most powerful when communities move forward together.
With music, storytelling, and cultural elements inspired by his Zambian heritage, this event will highlight the impact of Dr. Moono’s leadership and pay tribute to a president who helped SUNY Schenectady go further by bringing people together.
