Using the Food Pantry

Any SUNY Schenectady student who is registered for the current semester and who has a SUNY Schenectady ID card can place an order with the Food Pantry up to three times each month when classes are in session. The Pantry stocks a variety of food staples with which meals can be built, such as dairy, grains, vegetables, fruit, and protein. In addition, students can select from household items (paper towels, bath tissue, laundry detergent, trash bags) and personal care items (deodorant, shampoo, body wash, toothpaste, shaving items). The items on our shelves may change depending on the inventory choices at the Regional Food Bank, where The Pantry purchases 95% of what’s offered to students. Off-campus pantry and meal resource information is distributed to further assist in meeting students’ basic needs.

SUNY Schenectady Food Pantry Mission Statement

Embracing the SUNY Schenectady mission and vision statements and core values, the mission of the SUNY Schenectady Food Pantry is to provide temporary supplemental food relief to SUNY Schenectady students at no cost. In addition to helping alleviate hunger within our student community, the SUNY Schenectady Food Pantry aims to reduce the impact that food insecurity has on the academic success of our students, and to provide community referrals to assist with meeting other unmet basic needs.

SUNY Schenectady Food Pantry Vision Statement

The SUNY Schenectady Food Pantry aspires to alleviate the barriers associated with food insecurity to support student success at SUNY Schenectady and to ensure that no student goes hungry because of a lack of income or access to food.
