SUNY Schenectady will delay the start of the Spring 2022 semester for one week with classes starting on Monday, Jan. 24, 2022, rather than on Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2022. Additionally, for the first two weeks of the semester, classes will be taught in a virtual online format with the exception of some Aviation, Culinary Arts, Music, and Science labs.

The College plans to welcome students back to campus on Monday, Feb. 7, 2022, for in-person courses. College officials noted that this was the best way to help ensure the safety and well-being of members of the College community.

SUNY Schenectady will continue to offer support services including laptop loans, the Food Pantry, wellness, advisement, tutoring, IT support, and other areas for students. The College will perform a deep cleaning prior to the students’ return to campus.

“The safety of our students, faculty, staff, and community remains our top priority. With the general increase in COVID-19 cases due to the Omicron variant we thought it was best to delay the start of the semester and begin with virtual online learning formats. Our faculty are prepared to deliver the same excellent learning environments for our students virtually just as they did during 2020 and 2021 when the College pivoted to this format due to the pandemic. We will continue to offer support services for our students and be available for them in any way they might need. Our students have shown tremendous resilience, grit, and adaptability over the past nearly two years and we appreciate the flexibility they have demonstrated throughout the pandemic.”
