Policy 3.11.1 - Policy for Obtaining Additional Information for Admissions from Applicants who were Expelled/Dismissed from another College/University

Policy

  1. Individuals responding in the affirmative (answered 'yes') to the mandated question on the College Admission Application will be requested to provide additional information to the Vice President of Student Affairs at SUNY Schenectady County Community College, 78 Washington Avenue, Schenectady, NY 12305 before their application is reviewed.
    • Mandated Question
      Applicants are required to answer the following question.
      Have you ever been expelled and/or dismissed from another college or university for disciplinary reasons? Yes/No
      Note: If you answer “Yes” to the above question you must sign a release of FERPA Information for Student Conduct files from all previously attended university/colleges.
  2. If at any point the individual is considered to be an unreasonable risk to property or to the safety/welfare of specific individuals or to the general public, as a result of their previous expulsion/dismissal the Vice President will recommend the appropriate action to the College President consistent with our College's Student Code of Conduct prior to their acceptance to the College.
