Policy 2.31 - Paid Leave Policy for Cancer Screening

WHEREAS, the Legislature of the County of Schenectady recently passed Resolution 2-15 regarding a paid leave policy for cancer screening for Schenectady County Employees; and

WHEREAS, the Schenectady County Public Health Director advises that many cancer deaths are preventable through early detection, which significantly increases a person’s option for treatment and survival; and

WHEREAS, in recognizing this importance, the Acting President is recommending that
Schenectady County Community College (SCCC) provide full-time employees with up to four hours of paid leave for breast or prostate cancer screening; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, that every full-time employee shall be entitled to absent herself or himself and shall be deemed to have a paid leave of absence from her or his duties or service as such employee of SCCC for a sufficient period of time, not to exceed four hours each calendar year, to undertake a screening for breast and prostate cancer; and, be it further

RESOLVED, that the Board of Trustees hereby approves the Paid Leave Policy for Cancer Screening Policy effective immediately.
