Policy 2.19 - Political Activity

Purpose
Schenectady County Community College supports the rights of its employees to engage in political activities during non-working hours and has established this policy to provide guidelines on how such activities should be handled in the workplace.
Policy
The Schenectady County Community College supports the right of its employees to engage in political activity during non-working hours or to contribute to the candidate or party of his/her choice provided said activity is in compliance with federal and state law. Coercing other College employees to engage in political activity or to make political contributions, or using one's College employment position to influence the vote of another's is strictly prohibited as is the placing of electioneering signs and bumper stickers, or other political material on College property.
Employees whose jobs are financed in whole or part by federal loans or grants may be limited or disqualified from elective office in a partisan election. An employee may secure information on the funding source of his/her College position from the Vice President of Administration.
