Policy 1.6 - Board of Trustees Self-Evaluation

Purpose

In aligning with the College’s accrediting body’s fundamental guidelines and in ensuring an effective Board of Trustees, a regular process of self-evaluation should be performed. This policy highlights the general guideline for such an assessment.

Policy

SUNY Schenectady’s Board of Trustees shall conduct a self- evaluation every two years. Trustees shall agree upon the self-evaluation format to be utilized during their June Board meeting. In July, Trustees will complete the approved self- evaluation form and return it to the Board Chair by the end of the month. During the August Board meeting, Trustees will discuss the results of the self-evaluation and determine recommendations, if any. Trustees may utilize the results for board training, continuous improvement or other activities as determined by the Board.
