The New York Community College Trustees (NYCCT) recently appointed SUNY Schenectady Board of Trustees Chair Ann Fleming as the Chair-Elect of the NYCCT for a term through 2020. She will also serve as Chair of the NYCCT’s Professional Development and Programming Committee, directing NYCCT educational programming including professional development activities.
NYCCT is a voluntary non-profit consortium of community college trustees established to strengthen the effectiveness of New York community college trustees as an active force in the development and implementation of public policy impacting community colleges. NYCCT represents the appointed board members who govern the 30 community colleges in the State University of New York (SUNY) system.
Ms. Fleming Brown has served as a member of the SUNY Schenectady Board of Trustees since 2009 through a gubernatorial appointment. Her colleagues on the Board voted her Chair in 2014. The Board of Trustees consists of 10 members; five members are appointed by the Schenectady County Legislature, four are appointed by the Governor, and one member is elected by and from among the students of the College.
Ms. Fleming Brown is Director of Admissions at Union College where she has worked since 1986. Before joining the Union community, she was a high school teacher, admissions director, and college advisor. Ms. Fleming Brown is a graduate of Bryn Mawr College with an A.B. in French Studies and history and earned her master’s degree in French from Middlebury College. She is a past winner of the Distinguished Service Award from New York State Association for College Admissions Counseling (1995).
