SCCC Foundation To Honor Distinguished Alumnus, Community Partner and Volunteer During Royal Gala & Alumni Hall of Fame Induction

Community members networking and enjoying cocktails.The Schenectady County Community College Foundation will host an evening of fine food and great company while honoring special guests during the Foundation’s Annual Royal Gala on Friday, Nov. 10, 2017, at Glen Sanders Mansion.

The Foundation is pleased to announce that it will recognize the following during the gala.

Dion Flynn ’17 | Distinguished Alumnus
Comedian/actor Dion Flynn ’17 is best known as Barack Obama on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and has more than 45 appearances as 14 different characters on both The Tonight Show & Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. Cited by Oprah Magazine as “one of our favorite creative thinkers...” Dion’s voice-overs and on-camera national commercials include clients like Sprint, Virgin Mobile and Verizon. He served overseas as a soldier and performer in the U.S. Army for four years. His theater history includes Shakespeare in the Park, The Public Theater and The Guthrie. Dion earned his M.F.A. in Acting from New York University's prestigious Tisch School of the Arts. He earned his A.S. in Performing Arts: Drama from SUNY SCCC.

Paula Marshman |Distinguished Community Volunteer
Paula Marshman is Co-Chair of the Women’s Fund of the Capital Region and has been with the group since 2007. She is the Chair of the Program Committee whose members are moving forward the scholarship and mentoring initiatives of the Women’s Fund. She has also been a member of the Volunteer Committee. Her community experience includes President of the Board of Directors for the Mohonasen Foundation for Excellence, Member of the Town of Rotterdam IDA Board of Directors (2007 to 2009), Co-Chair of Rotterdam's CommUnity Day, and Co-chair of Mohonasen School District's Budget Advisory Committee. In addition, she joined the Human Services Planning Council of Schenectady County as a Board Member. Paula’s accomplishments in the environmental field include being a founding Board Member of the New York State Wetlands Forum, including serving as First Vice Chair and Secretary of the Board of Directors, and Past President and Board Member of the Environmental Clearinghouse of Schenectady.

Each year the SCCC Foundation Gala attracts more than 300 prominent business and community leaders as well as faculty, staff and alumni to Glen Sanders Mansion for an elegant dinner to honor friends of SUNY SCCC who have demonstrated their commitment to the College mission, vision and values.

Tickets for the Royals Gala are: Honorary Committee - $150 - per person and $125 - alumni, faculty and staff, and Individual Reservation(s) - $125 - per person and $100 - alumni, faculty and staff.
