Q: I don’t have a perfect GPA. Is it even worth applying?
A: Yes! The majority of our scholarships require a minimum GPA between 2.5 and 3.0. A higher GPA may help your chances of securing a scholarship, so do your best to keep your grades up.

Q: I don’t need money right now. Should I still apply?
A: Yes! You should definitely apply. This is the only application process available for the 2019-2020 academic year. After this application process, there will be no more funds available to assist you during the school year in case your financial situation changes.

Q: I do not qualify for financial aid. Do I still have to complete the FAFSA to be considered for scholarships?
A: You are still eligible for scholarships, even if you do not qualify for financial aid. However, if you choose not to complete the FAFSA you will be disqualified from most scholarships. By completing the FAFSA, you will have a better chance of receiving a scholarship. If you have any questions, please email

Q: How do I receive my scholarship money?
A: You will receive your scholarship money directly onto your student account. It will be applied to your tuition and fees. If there is any remaining scholarship money after paying for your tuition and fees, you may use the credit at the SUNY Schenectady bookstore. Any excess funds at that point will be mailed home halfway through the semester, as part of your refund check.

Q: When do I receive my scholarship money?
A: Scholarship funds will be placed on students’ accounts by August 1, 2019. If you do not see your funds on your account, you may be missing one of the required follow-up items. Please contact with any questions.
