The deadline for submitting an application to the Side-by-Side concert has been extended! Applications are still being accepted!
It has long been the mission of the Capital Region Wind Enseble (CRWE) to serve as role models for young student musicians. As such, the CRWE would like to invite music educators to recommend students to join us for our second concert of the 2019-2020 season.
The concert will be held Sunday, March 29, 2020, at 3:00 p.m. The selected students will play Gordon Jacob’s William Byrd Suite side-by-side with the musicians of CRWE.
All rehearsals and the concert will be at SUNY Schenectady. Rehearsal dates are:
- Sunday, March 8, 5:15 - 8:00 p.m.
- Sunday, March 15, 5:15 - 8:00 p.m.
- Saturday, March 28, 9:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
This year our guest soloist will be euphonium player, Dr. William Sutton. Dr. Sutton will perform James Curnow's Fantasia di Falcone. Dr. Sutton is a proud alumnus of the SUNY Schenectady School of Music and is currently teaching low brass at the State University of New York at Potsdam, Crane School of Music.
Students will work with CRWE members in sectionals, rehearse with the full group and participate in master classes where interested students will be given the opportunity to perform solo literature in a workshop format. Dr. Sutton, as well as area professional musicians, will present the master classes.
For full details, please read the application packet (PDF), which contains a letter to music educators, the Student Application, and a Master Class Application.
