Professor Schauer was born, educated, and has lived in the Capital Region for all his life. He is a first-generation, English as a second-language, and duel German-American citizen. He has been with SUNY Schenectady County Community College since January 1992, rising up through the ranks from Adjunct to full Professor, currently teaching astronomy, environmental science, and geology-oceanography. Professor Schauer served as Vice-President and Union (FA/UFP) President for 11 years. He loves to travel, cooking and cultural events.
