Learning Center Workshops

The Learning Center offers the following workshops to all students on an individual tutorial basis. Appointments can be arranged at the Learning Center, or by calling (518) 381-1246. One-on-one tutorials are available Monday through Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Informational handouts are also available on all topics on a walk-in basis.

Classroom Note Taking

Not sure how to take effective notes when everything in the lecture seems important? Learn to use a system to identify and record main ideas and important details during class, and a strategy for storing the information in long-term memory after class. Handouts provided.

Reducing Math Anxiety

Discover how to overcome faulty assumptions, avoid negative self-talk, and use strategies to conquer this common anxiety. Handouts provided.

Strategies for Textbook Reading

Learn how to identify the most important information in a textbook, what to underline (and how much) and how to write meaningful margin notes. Handouts provided.

Test-Taking Strategies

Review test taking strategies for multiple choice and true-false questions, short answer questions, and essays. Learn what to do before, during, and after the test.
