CHS Summer Academies
The SUNY Schenectady Division of Math, Science, Technology and Health along with the College in the High School Program are pleased to invite high school students to participate in our Summer Academies.
Summer S.T.E.A.M. Academy
SUNY Schenectady’s Division of Math, Science, Technology and Health along with the
College in the High School Program are pleased to invite Middle and High School students
(8th graders, Freshman, Sophomore, Junior & Senior) to our Summer STEAM Academy. The
academy will focus on science, technology, engineering, art and math. Our experienced
science educators will challenge students to explore and understand the different
opportunities in the STEAM ecosystem. We will immerse you in hands-on experiences,
mentoring/networking opportunities, and workshops with Alumni, current students and
local resources. This Academy will help you better understand how to connect the dots
and explore the different Science, Math, Technology & Health careers in Schenectady
and beyond.
Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m.-2:30 p.m.
Session I: July 13-16, 2020
Session II: July 20-23, 2020

S.T.E.A.M. Academy Instructor
Dr. Lorena Harris is the Director of the Collegiate Science and Technology Entry Program (CSTEP). She is also an Adjunct Faculty Member teaching in the Division of Math, Science, Technology and Health. Lorena first joined SUNY Schenectady in 2012 as the Coordinator of the Spanish Lab and was a participant in the Internship Program for the Development of Minority Faculty. Lorena holds a Ph.D. in Biological Sciences and Molecular Biology from Bowling Green State University and a B.S in Biology from the Simon Bolivar University, Venezuela.
