Gary Perkins began his career with the Saratoga Springs Police as a patrolman. He was promoted to investigator in the Juvenile Aid Unit and later promoted to patrol sergeant. In 1990, he received the Lieutenant’s Award for officer of the year. In 1996, he was selected to attend the prestigious F.B.I. National Academy in Quantico, Virginia. There he studied administrative courses taught by F.B.I. agents. Upon returning to Saratoga Springs, he was promoted to rank of Lieutenant and assigned to oversee the operations of the midnight patrol.


Gary returned to college earning his Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Russell Sage evening division. In 2000, he graduated from Marist College with a Master’s degree in Public Administration. He has also received specialized training in domestic violence from the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Glynco, Georgia, where he became a national certified instructor in domestic violence.
