Music Courses

SUNY Schenectady offers non-credit music learning opportunities for the enrichment of the community. Students wishing to pursue professional music studies should contact the SUNY Schenectady School of Music. SUNY Schenectady is an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Music. PIANO LESSONS FOR ADULTS

Fee: $225
This course, designed especially for the beginner, will include fundamental instruction in note reading, rhythm recognition, proper hand position, and chords. Instruction will consist of ten (10), half-hour individual lessons. Students of all skill levels are welcome. This course is taught by Rebecca Schmid who has taught at Brown School of Music and currently teaches at Joyful Noise School of Music. Click here to register.

GUITAR LESSONS FOR ADULTS

Fee: $275
This course will include fundamental instruction in reading notes, strumming chords to songs, and technical development. Instruction will consist of ten (10), half-hour individual lessons. Students of all skill levels are welcome. Students must bring their own guitars. This course is taught by Paul Quigley, Adjunct Faculty Member in the SUNY Schenectady School of Music. CLASSICAL GUITAR LESSONS FOR ADULTS

Beginner to advanced lessons for classical/fingerstyle guitar. Students will focus on using the fingers instead of a guitar pick to perform music from classical, folk, blues, and contemporary music styles. Instruction will consist of ten (10), half-hour individual lessons. A nylon string guitar is recommended. Students must bring their own guitars. VOICE LESSONS FOR ADULTS

Students will learn proper singing technique and vocal independence through solo work. Instruction will consist of ten (10), half-hour individual lessons. This course is taught by Michaela Lucas, Music Director at Mekeel Christian Academy, who taught music in Switzerland for seven years. Click here to register.
